Propulsion Officer

The propulsion officer (AnO) is a section leader on board ships of the German Navy and is responsible for everything related to ship propulsion . He is on duty troops to the main section of conductor 200 (the main portion Marine Technology ), the ship Technical Officer (STO), and disciplinary action to the first officer of the ship assumed.

According to the strength and equipment certificate (StAN), troop service officers with the rank of lieutenant commander are usually designated to fill the post . The propulsion officer also regularly takes on tasks as Watch Head Ship Technology (WST) at sea and in port.

Subordinate to him are one or more propulsion masters as well as non-commissioned officers and men .
