Anubixx is a dice game with four dice by Florian Ortlepp , Helmut Ortlepp and Steffen Benndorf , which was published in 2019 by Nürnberger-Spielkarten-Verlag and White Goblin Games .

Background and game material

The simple game of dice ("roll and write") is about being a master builder in ancient Egypt and building various structures that are built from different colored stones. The buildings, each with a floor relief, a triumphal arch and a pyramid , are shown on a game block, with up to five players being given different task sheets with different color combinations. The required building blocks are rolled over four six-sided color dice or taken from a player's own quarry and crossed off on the exercise sheet. The winner of the game is the player with the most points at the end of the game.

Style of play

The starting player is drawn and the players in turn roll the dice. In each round, including that of an opponent, each player may build up to two stones in his structures, whereby he can take the stones from the stones rolled or from the quarry on his task sheet. In addition, each player has bonus blocks available as jokers depending on the number of players.

The active player throws all four dice face up. Then he chooses up to two colors from the colors rolled or his quarry that he would like to use in his buildings. If he has chosen, he places the used dice on his block, the remaining players can then use the remaining dice for their construction and also build up to two stones and use the dice and their own quarry as they wish.

The structures are constructed differently:

  • In the triumphal arch, the two pillars can be built independently of each other, but the end stone can only be placed when both pillars have been completed.
  • The pyramid is built from the bottom up. Two stones always form the basis for a stone above, which can only be placed when both base stones are in place. The pyramid is also built up in layers in this way.
  • Only two stones may be installed together in the floor relief, they must be horizontally or vertically adjacent.

The quarry is mined from left to right. If a player uses a stone from the quarry, he may only use stones in the following turns that are to the right of the stones that have already been used.

If a player reaches one of the printed symbols or the last symbol in the case of multiple symbols, he crosses off the corresponding symbol on the bonus bar. Players who reach this symbol in the same round are also allowed to tick it, all others cross it out and do not get the bonus anymore if they reach it later.

The game ends after the round in which a player has completely built his second structure. He and everyone who manage to do this in the same round can tick this bonus field, after which the final settlement takes place:

  • For the pyramid, the players receive the specified number of points of the highest level, which was achieved with at least one die,
  • For the temple, the players receive the specified number of points of the highest level on which they have built both stones in parallel, or the number of points for the keystone, if this was placed.
  • For the ground relief, the players receive points depending on the number of stones laid.
  • The players also receive one point for each unused stone in the quarry to the right of the last used stone and two points for each unused bonus stone.

The winner is the player who has received the most points after settlement.
