Anuppur is a city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh . The city is located in the eastern part of the state and near the geographic center of India.
The city is the administrative seat of the district of Anuppur of the same name . Anuppur has the status of a municipality . The city is divided into 15 wards . It had 19,899 inhabitants on the cut-off date of the 2011 census, of whom 10,412 were men and 9,487 women. Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of over 88%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 84.58%, well above the national average.
The Anuppur train station connects the city with the rest of the country. The station is part of the South East Central Railway Zone of Indian Railways .
