The Anvil Crag ( English for anvil rock ; Polish Zamek ) is an approximately 300 m (according to Polish information 339 m ) high cliff on King George Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It rises about 1.5 km west-southwest of Sphinx Hill at the head of a central moraine .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee gave the rock its descriptive name in 1977 . Polish scientists, on the other hand, named it after the Warsaw Royal Castle in 1980 .
