Anyolite (also Anyolith , Rubinzoisit or Zoisitfels ) is a metamorphic formed mineral mixture, consisting predominantly of the green variety of Minerals Zoisit and the red, opaque Korundvarietät Rubin exists. The in-grained matrix of Zoisits disseminated rubies are often irregularly shaped, but can also idiomorphic have hexagonal structure. In addition, greenish-black to black deposits from minerals of the amphibole group (hornblende) are often found in the zoisite .

Was first discovered in 1954 in the anyolite Mundarara mine in the district Longido in Tanzania . For more than 50 years Tanzania, more precisely Longido as well as Lossogenoi and Naberera in the Simanjiro district (see also corundum finds in Africa ), was the only place where Anyolite was found. Only in 2008 was the discovered by Andreas Ertl, Franz Brandstätter and Markus Prem "anyolite lenses" from the Moldanubicum about three kilometers south of Drosendorf in the Lower Austrian town of Drosendorf-Zissersdorf discloses another location for anyolite.

It got its name from the local Maasai because of its predominantly green color . “Anyole” is the Maasai word for green .

Due to its mostly strong colors and color contrasts, Anyolit is used for the production of jewelery and ornamental stones as well as for handicraft objects, which when ground and polished develop a glass-like shine . There is only a risk of confusion if the color is similar, green fuchsite with embedded rubies.
