The Anysberg Nature Reserve ( German nature reserve Anysberg ) is located between the cities of Ladismith and Laingsburg in the semi-desert landscape of the Little Karoo in the province of Western Cape in South Africa .
Fauna and flora
The Anysberg Nature Reserve is rich in succulents , like
- Crassula columnaris and Crassula umbellata
- Euphorbia mauritanica
- Gibbaeum pubescens
- Haworthia cymbiformis
- Othonna carnosa
In addition to the bush-lined Karoo areas, the Anysberg Mountains, which are part of the Nature Reserve, also contain extensive fynbos and protea populations.
Larger mammals include the gauntlet , eland and kudu . So far more than 160 bird species have been counted there.
52 species / subspecies of reptiles and amphibians are reported, including five species of turtles , 27 species of lizards and 14 species of snakes .

history
The Anysberg Nature Reserve was founded in 1988. Between 1996 and 2001, acquisitions by the WWF and the Leslie Hill Succulent Trust increased the area to now 62,500 hectares .
