Apenteichquelle
The source of the Apenteich is located in Winzenburg , Lower Saxony , at the foot of the Winzenburg and Tiebenburg castles .
The spring feeds the Apenteiche, which was created in 1220 and which drains into the Leine via the Winzenburger Bach . They were a pagan cult area where offerings around 5000 years old were found. In 1950, earthworks uncovered a bronze needle. The further work was accompanied by the responsible district archeology department . The finds include a large flint hatchet and a stone ax , as well as the remains of three bronze rings and a fibula , i.e. a garment clasp.
