Apimondia
The International Federation of Beekeeping Associations , better known by its short name Apimondia , promotes scientific, ecological, social and economic beekeeping and beekeeping worldwide . He also supports the cooperation of beekeeping associations, scientific institutions and people interested in science. The association publishes the Apiacta magazine.
history
The association was founded in 1893 as an international committee for the organization of beekeeping congresses. The first president was Fernand de Lalieux de la Rocq. In 1897 Apimondia organized the first beekeeping congress in Brussels. The last world congresses took place in 2009 in Montpellier (France), 2011 in Buenos Aires (Argentina), 2013 in Kiev (Ukraine), 2015 in Daejeon (South Korea) and 2017 in Istanbul (Turkey). The last Apimondia congress took place in September 2019 in Montréal (Canada), the next congress is planned for 2021 in Ufa , Russia .
The head office of the association is in Rome . There are standing commissions for beekeeping, bee biology, bee health, pollination and bee flora, bee technology, apitherapy and beekeeping. The highest body is the Executive Council.
Apimondia in Germany
Honorary members from Germany were the Presidents of the German Beekeeping Association Fridolin Gnädinger and Erich Schieferstein , the beekeeping advisor and master beekeeper Karl Pfefferle and the bee scientist Ludwig Armbruster . On April 29, 2007, Ludwig Armbruster, who had been forced out of his office by the National Socialists, was honored by the then President Asger Jörgensen in Bronnbach (Baden). On August 28, 2008, after the poisoning of 12,000 bee colonies by the neonicotinoid clothianidin , President Jörgensen spoke at the beekeeping and environmental rally in front of the Freiburg im Breisgau regional council .
