Band history

Founded in 1999 under the name To the Seven and completed a year later by bassist Freddy, the band, after regular appearances, occupied themselves with the first recordings, which resulted in the 2003 demo debut Moral Sloth . Perform live on the up-from-the-ground festival in 2003 was it from the Swabian Metal - Label taken Black Attakk under contract, which at this time of the label Last Episode emerged. Shortly thereafter, the now sold out 7 "EP Black Demons appeared with three songs from the demo in an edition of 500 copies under the band name changed to Apokrypha. The band's new logo was designed by the designer Christophe Szpajdel . [19] first album To the Seven released, which was recorded and mixed in the tos studio and mastered in the Church Mastering Studio .

The cooperation between Black Attakk and the promotion agency Sure Shot Worx associated with the label contract received over 80 reviews and several interviews in magazines . In Rock Hard issue no. 207, the band reached number 10 on the "Richter Scale", the monthly charts of the editorial team. The interview followed in issue no. 208 [2] and Andy was listed in the "musician playlists". The interview in Legacy was conducted by Markus Eck.

In the years that followed, nationwide tours with better-known bands followed.

In 2006 the founding line-up was supplemented by the new guitarist Josef, Jochen has since retired from the live business for professional reasons, but is still involved in the further songwriting. The band is currently working on their second album. In early 2013 the EP Procession was released.

style

Official illustration of the philosophy of Apocryphal

Apokrypha's agency Sure Shot Worx calls “'[v] desperate melodies and apocalyptic brutality' the extremes of an atmospheric mixture of black, thrash and death metal” as trademarks of their style. Markus Eck from Metalmessage compared the theme song of their debut album with Emperor , but according to their own statements the band is not influenced by Emperor, but just like Emperor by bands of the first wave such as Venom , Bathory and Celtic Frost , as well as Slayer , Death , Bolt Thrower and Immortal .

The band pursues a concept that deals with the downfall of a fictional society and to which the old band name, To the Seven, and the lyrics refer. In this concept, music and lyrics belong together. The lyrical concept is described as "an abstraction of social life, a kind of fictitious construct that draws parallels to reality" and deals with social grievances rather than dealing with Satanism and the worship of death that traditionally define Black Metal. Nevertheless, the band calls their music "Apocalyptic Black Metal". The lyrics are explained on the band's website.
