The Apollo Theater (Kinoteatri Apollo) in the Georgian capital Tbilisi was one of the early cinemas and was built in the Art Nouveau style. It was closed in the early 1990s and reopened at the beginning of the 21st century.

history

At that time still called the electric theater , the movie theater was built in 1909 and was intended to complement the famous cinemas of the same name in London , Rome, Paris and Madrid. It operated for over 80 years and closed in the early 1990s due to the political unrest in the country. Since then the Art Nouveau building has fallen into disrepair .

Revitalization

Since the Apollo is of great historical importance for generations of Tbilisi citizens and was also a cultural center of the Caucasus region for many years , the architect and president of the NG Galaxy Group Nana Hernandes Getashvili decided to reconstruct the building and reactivate its urban importance. A cinema is to be operated again with spacious possibilities for festivals, celebrations, public and private events, integrated into an eleven-story building complex with a shopping center, hotel, casino and restaurants.
