The Arabic magazine Apollo ( Arabic اپولو, DMG Apūllū ) was published in Egypt from 1932 to 1934 . The editor of the total of 25 editions, Ahmed Zaki Abu Shadi (1892–1955), founded the "Apollo Poet Society" at the same time, which dedicated itself to the renewal of Arabic poetry and the elimination of traditional conventions.

Abu Shadi was not only a poet and author of numerous works on politics, social reform, Islam and art, but also a translator of some works by Hafez , Omar Chayyam and Shakespeare . His magazine became an important medium for experimental Arabic poetry outside of Egypt and was considered a pioneer of modern Arabic literature.

After working as an editor in Egypt, he first taught as a professor of medicine at the University of Alexandria and finally emigrated to New York in 1946, where he worked as an editor of various Arab diaspora magazines.
