Apollonia (Phrygia)
Apollonia ( Greek Ἀπολλωνία ) was an ancient city in the Phrygia region (sometimes also part of Pisidia ) near today's Uluborlu in the Turkish province of Isparta . The city was sometimes also called Mordiaion , in late antiquity Sozopolis .
Apollonia is mentioned among others in Strabo , the Tabula Peutingeriana and Claudius Ptolemy . Little is known about its history. The town's inscriptions and coins from the Roman Empire have been preserved. In late antiquity Sozopolis was the seat of a bishop; The titular bishopric of Sozopolis in Pisidia of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to the diocese .
