Apollonius is an impact crater on the eastern edge of the front of the moon , northeast of Sinus Successus and northwest of Mare Spumans , southwest of the crater Firmicus . The crater rim is heavily eroded.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Greek mathematician Apollonios von Perge .
