The eMac (built in 2005)

The eMac is an Apple computer originally designed for the education market only . It was presented to the public in April 2002.

Due to high customer demand, it was officially available for customers who do not come from the education sector. The eMac can be seen as the successor to the Ur- iMac , because it has the same complete computer design with computer and monitor in one housing as this one, but with a larger 17 " tube ( CRT ) monitor and a change to the next generation of processors.

successor

Not least in connection with the appearance of the new iMac generation with Intel processor in January 2006, Apple stopped selling eMacs at the end of 2005.

As a successor, a special version of the 17-inch iMac was introduced in July 2006 , which has less powerful graphics hardware and only a ComboDrive. In contrast to the standard model, the Apple Remote control and the integrated Bluetooth module are also missing . With these savings, the price of the educational iMac has been reduced to 938 euros. After the new iMac had been ordered from Apple's education store for a few days, it was removed from the end customer area for a while and since the introduction of the 24 "iMac has now been available to end customers again.

After the presentation of the aluminum iMac, the educational iMac was dropped from the program along with the 17 "iMac.
