Apu trilogy

Apu Trilogy is the name of three Bengali films by the Indian director Satyajit Ray from the 1950s, which are among the most important works in international film . It consists of the individual films Pather Panchali (1955), Aparajito (1956) and Apur Sansar (1959). It is named after the main character of Apu, whose life is depicted from childhood to manhood . She is embodied by Subir Bannerjee , Pinaki Sengupta , Smaran Ghosal and Soumitra Chatterjee .

The novels Pather Panchali (1929) and Aparajito (1932) by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay served as models . The music for these films was written by Ravi Shankar . The films , which were produced with little financial outlay, were presented at many international film festivals, where there were also several awards, including three National Film Awards and awards at the film festivals in Cannes and Venice . The Apu trilogy was selected in 2005 in the Time selection of the best 100 films from 1923 to 2005 .
