Arådalen is a valley west of Hundshögen Mountain (1,371 m) in southern Oviksfjäll in Jämtland , Sweden . The valley was named after the river Arån , which flows south from the valley into the Ljungan . This area was designated as an Arådalen Nature Reserve in 2006 . In this valley there are the alpine pastures of Västra Arådalen (western Arådalen) and Östra Arådalen (eastern Arådalen). According to the general opinion, Västra Arådalen is the "place" Arådalen.

Arådalen is characterized by around 130 privately owned holiday cabins. In 1895 the first youth hostel of the Swedish Tourist Association STF (Arådalens Turiststation) was built on the dammed lake Angelikasjön. In 1909, today's hikers' hostel was built and is open to guests in summer. Near the hostel there is a chapel , built in the 1970s, and some huts of Samí . The youth hostel and chapel are owned by the Church of Sweden , which owns large areas of Arådalen.

As a cul-de-sac from Fäbodvägen , a passable road to Arådalen and the Samí village of Glen to the west was created at the same time in 1964/1965 .
