Arabian Prince (born June 17, 1965 in Compton , California ; real name Mik Lezan ) is an American rapper and producer, best known for his time at NWA , of which he was a founding member.

Life

Beginnings

Arabian Prince began his career with Bobby Jimmy & the Critters in 1984. He also produced the album Supersonic by JJ Fad , which was released 1988th

NWA

He was one of the founding members of NWA , which was founded in 1986, and was featured on one song each as a rapper on the first three records released by the group. When Ice Cube came back from the Phoenix Institute for Technology in 1988 and joined the group, Arabian Prince considered himself superfluous and left alongside Eazy-E , Ice Cube and MC Ren , who were considered the protagonists and are featured on most of the songs the band after the album Straight Outta Compton , where he appears on the song Something 2 Dance 2 .

According to NWA

After leaving the group, Arabian Prince devoted himself to his solo career and released his first album in 1989, which he called Brother Arab , but the album flopped. Further albums followed, none of which received any major commercial attention. The fourth studio album Where's My Bitches was also his last in the 1990s.

It wasn't until 2007 that he started making music again under the Clone Records label. In 2007 he was a DJ on the 2K Sports Holiday Bounce Tour with musicians from the Stones Throw label . In 2008 Stones Throw released an album with a compilation of his electro-rap-heavy songs from the 1980s. One of the songs on this album was featured in the video game College Hoops 2K8 .

Musical style

Arabian Prince's music is stylistically classed as electro .

In his albums, Arabian Prince addresses his relationship to women, love and life itself. On his fourth studio album Where's My Bytches , songs from the gangsta rap genre can also be heard.
