Arash Derambarsh

Arash Derambarsh (born July 25, 1979 in Paris ) is a French politician and writer.

Political work

Derambarsh's goal was to stop the destruction of usable food . He observed that supermarkets in particular threw away large quantities of edible food. He was looking for a legal way of reusing usable food and developed the concept of distributing it to people at risk of poverty. For this purpose, 2100 signatures were collected in a corresponding campaign and introduced into the French Parliament .

As a result of this submission, the law was passed that supermarkets with a floor area larger than 4000 square meters are not allowed to throw away usable food. The law also states that the correct use of food is taught in French schools.

Derambarsh published a book called Manifeste contre le gaspillage alimentaire ( Manifesto Against Food Waste ), which won the Edgar Faure Prize for Best Political Book of the Year. In 2016, Derambarsh was one of the world's 100 best thinkers according to Foreign Policy magazine .
