The Eppingen Workers 'and Soldiers' Council was founded on the evening of 8 a.m. on November 27, 1918 in Eppingen ( Baden ).

In the municipal council and municipal council elections in June 1919, Heinrich Zimmermann ran on the list of the Free Citizens' Association and Josef Gern for the center . In contrast to other workers 'and soldiers' councils , the local SPD boards did not belong to the council.

At the founding meeting, the following demands were made on the Eppingen city administration:

  • Participation in the exercise of police power
  • Handing over of weapons for the intended deployment of a people's armed forces
  • Insight into all decrees and orders of the municipal administration and right to countersignature by the workers 'and soldiers' council in important matters
  • Control of food distribution
  • Demand of 200 marks to cover the expenses of the workers 'and soldiers' council

Points one to three were only partially complied with and points four and five were fully complied with by the local authority. For a few days only, at the beginning of December 1918, the Eppingen Workers 'and Soldiers' Council formed a security police to ensure peace and order in the city. When the Eppinger Workers 'and Soldiers' Council dissolved is not known, but no later than after the elections in January 1919. On January 5, 1919, the election for the constituent state parliament of the Republic of Baden and on January 19, the election for the German National Assembly took place. In Eppingen, the SPD, the Center and the German Democratic Party (DDP) emerged as the strongest parties in these elections.
