The Labor Party ( French Parti des Travailleurs , Arabic حزب العمال Hizb al-Ummal , Tamazight : Akabar Ixeddamen , abbreviation PT ) is a communist party in Algeria , which is described as Trotskyist , but is oriented towards left- wing nationalist or left-wing Latin American governments such as Venezuela . The Labor Party is led by Louisa Hanoune . Founded in 1990, the party advocates the protection and promotion of trade union movements in Algeria. It was closely associated with the French party of the same name .
Your general secretary Louisa Hanoune was the first woman in the Arab world to run for president in the 2004 presidential election - but she received only 3.3% of the vote. In the 2007 general election , the Labor Party was the main opposition party to the tripartite coalition made up of the FLN , the National Democratic Assembly and the Society's Movement for Peace . However, it only won 5.08% of the vote and 26 of the 389 seats in the National People's Assembly .
