The workers' sports monument is located in Freital - Deuben on Krönertstrasse. It is a listed building .

history

The taller sandstone column was originally set up around 1920 on the gymnasium at the Egermühle . It commemorates the members of the ATSV Deuben who perished during the First World War . The stele bears the inscription “In honor of our members who died in the war”. A metal plaque with a symbol of the workers' sports movement was attached to the column. In 1928 the stone was given a new location at the Rudeltstrasse gym, which opened in the same year. It was there until the gym was demolished in 2009. The metal sign from the 1920s disappeared a few years after the inauguration, and in 1978 a new one was installed, which was also stolen.

The column has been a listed building since 2009. With the demolition of the gym, it was refurbished and then put back up next to the sports hall of the Weißeritzgymnasium , which had been newly built since 2007 . It is only a few hundred meters away from its original location.
