Working group of German courier services

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Kurierdienste (ADK) was founded on November 10, 1984 in Frankfurt am Main by eight city courier services . The place of business was initially in Hamburg with "Der Kurier", managing director Christian Wilisch, and in Stuttgart with "Express-Car", managing director Eduard Sigmund. In cooperation with six other big-city courier services was until May 1990 with the appointment service in Nachtsprung an overnight service in more than 60 cities available. Since mid-1990, ADK has been using a self-operated hub-and-spoke system, initially in Mühlbach and later in Neuenstein, to handle its nationwide overnight transport via the motorway network. On August 4th, 1994 the working group of Kurierdienste GmbH & Co. KG was founded in Hamburg. In October 1994 the founding member Der Kurier and the other ADK partners separated. Since then, the courier has maintained its own overnight network together with German Parcel , which later bought the Der-Kurier Group and uses the “Der Kurier” brand in franchising as an overnight express product in the GLS Group. The remaining ADK partners became GO! General Overnight, which will cover the vacant locations such as B. Hamburg, with its own GO! Companies.
