Working group on family law in the German Bar Association

The Family Law Working Group , founded in 1993, is part of the German Lawyers' Association (DAV). Around 6,800 lawyers have come together in the working group. It is the largest association of lawyers specializing in family law and the largest working group within the DAV before the working group traffic law . The working group is organized on the basis of rules of procedure adopted by the DAV's board of directors. The organs are the general assembly and the executive committee. The work of the lawyers is voluntary.

tasks

The Family Law Working Group advocates the professional and economic interests of its members. Through specialist events, short courses and informational communications, information is provided on all of the important issues in family law and the associated professional law consequences. In addition, the working group follows the political debates in family law and related areas of law and informs its members about them. It also informs the members about the further development of the law. She is in close contact with the specialist and legislative committees of the German Lawyers' Association. Members of the working group are regularly involved in legislative procedures in the Bundestag and in hearings in the Legal Committee . The working group offers advanced training for its members. In the various regions, regional officers also offer training events and discussion groups for members.

Publications

The specialist journal “Forum Familienrecht” appears eleven times a year with legal articles, important judgments and a compact overview of case law. The members of the working group receive a monthly newsletter with the latest information on family law. It can also be found on the website.

Events

Every year a large autumn conference is held at different locations in the Federal Republic. The speakers include judges from the Federal Supreme Court , the Supreme Court , academics from colleges and universities and practitioners from the legal profession. A symposium that will precede the autumn meetings will deal with family law in other European countries. The Working Group on Family Law is represented with its own lectures and discussions at the German Lawyers' Day, which also takes place annually with several thousand participants. It organizes around 90 training events nationwide every year.
