The working group for pancreatectomized patients (also: AdP e.V. - pancreatic patients ) was founded in 1976. The AdP has been a registered association since 1979 , recognized as non-profit and particularly worthy of support. Its federal office is located in the House of Cancer Self-Help in Bonn.

history

The difficult and needy situation after a pancreatic operation prompted those affected in 1976 to found the working group for pancreatectomized patients (AdP) in Heidelberg under the motto “Help through self-help”. The AdP has been a registered association since May 1979. Today, the working group with its well over 1500 members (as of 2018) is a self-help organization for all patients who have or are suspected of having a pancreatic disease . This can be, for example, an inflammation (= pancreatitis ) or a tumor of the pancreas (e.g. pancreatic carcinoma ). Particular attention is paid to patients whose pancreas had to be partially or completely removed because of one of these diseases. The working group is supported by the German Cancer Aid Foundation in Bonn.

purpose

The purpose of the working group is to promote the health and rehabilitation of partially and totally pancreatectomized and non-operated pancreatic patients with special consideration of cancer patients and their relatives and focus on their quality of life and care. The working group formulates health policy positions and struggles to enforce them.

In the course of more than 40 years of work, a comprehensive and multi-layered expertise has grown. With a scientific advisory board consisting of pancreatic specialists, doctors, nutritionists, social experts and psychologists, a system of help was developed that is widely recognized by clinics, doctors, rehabilitation facilities, health insurance companies, government agencies and other health institutions.

The almost 60 regional groups throughout Germany guarantee local care for patients.
