The Arcas (from Rhaeto-Romanic archa = Dammwuhr as a dike-like construction) is a large square in the south of Chur's old town not far from the Martinskirche .

The row of houses adjoining the Plessur is built directly onto the medieval city wall from the 13th century. In 1971, the Arcas was completely redesigned with an underground parking garage and the exposure of the historic market square. The lead architect was Theodor Hartmann . The redesign of the Arcas was sharply criticized by the architect Rudolf Olgiati .

From the Arcas the path leads into the old town past the Bärenloch to Martinsplatz .
