The Archaeological Museum of the Province of Alicante ( Spain ) (officially in Spanish: Museo Arqueológica Provincial de Alicante or MARQ ) was inaugurated in its current form in 2000 . Five halls are dedicated to different eras: prehistory , Iberian culture , Roman culture , medieval and modern . There are special exhibitions in three other halls. In 2004 , after the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, it was the second museum in Spain to receive the European Museum of the Year award .
