archINFORM
arch INFORM is an online database in which you can research buildings and architects . From the beginnings of a student database at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology with interesting architectural examples, the project has developed into a comprehensive reference work since 1994 (online since 1996).
The project uses the possibilities of relational databases to map the relationships between buildings, planners and concepts as clearly and understandably as possible. Through cooperation with various partners (including biographies from the Allgemeine Künstlerlexikon (AKL)), the use of articles from the free encyclopedia Wikipedia and the possibility of interactive contribution of material, the database has grown steadily in recent years. The focus of the selection is on the architecture of the 20th and 21st centuries.
The structure and structure of the archINFORM database has influenced the structure of various comparable projects in the building / real estate sector in recent years, for example the Structurae web database, which is geared towards civil engineering .
