The archive for philately in Bonn is run by the Museum Foundation Post and Telecommunication , which also operates the three museums for communication .

Collection order

The Philatelic Archive documents the history of philately from the first postage stamps to the latest special stamp . To collect valuable addition to rarities and include mint revisions and original designs , arrival and proofs , postal stationery , spilled letters , printing blocks and punches .

General collection

The core of the archive is the so-called "General Collection", which today comprises more than 800 albums. The aim of the general collection is to provide at least one copy of every stamp that has ever appeared - worldwide. For this purpose, the archive still obtains most of the new editions from other countries through the Universal Postal Union in Bern .

Well-known exhibits

The most famous exhibits include a copy of the Blue Mauritius and a sheet of ten from the Audrey Hepburn charity brand .
