The Archtal is a valley in the Estergebirge with a northward orientation, which is bordered to the east by the Minnecker ridge and to the west by the Archtal ridge . The upper end of the valley is formed by the striking Kistenkar below the Hohe Kisten . The cirque can be seen from afar and, due to its northward orientation, retains a layer of old snow for a long time in spring. In the Archtal itself the Urlaine runs , which over the years from the Karmulde has dug a gorge with numerous pools and waterfalls. The village of Eschenlohe is at the end of the valley .
