Aref Arefkia ( listen ? / I ; PersianAudio file / audio sample عارف عارف‌کیا) called Aref ( Persian عارف) (Born August 15, 1941 in Tehran , Iran ) is an Iranian singer.

Life

Aref's first contact with music came from his Armenian father and Azerbaijani mother, who listened to Radio Baku when he was a child. At that time, Radio Baku played not only typical Azeri music but also western music and European operas.

In the 1960s, Aref was one of the first to combine western melodies with romantic lyrics and make them known in Iran. After the Islamic Revolution , Aref left Iran and went to London for three years and then to Los Angeles. Aref is an Armenian Orthodox Christian. He has one son and three daughters.
