The Aria & Co. Inc. is a Japanese guitar manufacturer which was founded in 1956 by Shiro Arai (* 1930) founded, which is still active as a volunteer consultant for the company.
history
Shiro Arai started importing guitars (mostly Fender ) to Japan in the 1950s as instruments were difficult to come by during that time. When demand increased, he founded the company Arai & Co. Inc. in 1956 , which since 1964 has been known as Aria & Co. Inc. (until 1984 in cooperation with Matsumoku Industrial , where, for example, the Aria Urchin Deluxe went into series production in 1982 ) itself manufactures. Well-known models from the early 1960s are the 1532T and 1802T. Classical guitars , semi-acoustic guitars and electric basses were also manufactured by Aria in Japan from the 1960s (including the endorsement guitar models “ Herb Ellis ” / PE175 and “ Ike Isaacs ” or the electric bass SB1000 in 1980). In 1988, Aria outsourced the production of cheaper guitar models to South Korea . The MAB40 electric bass was manufactured in Korea in 1990. Individual models also come from the United States of America (especially in the 1990s) or Spain (currently).
