Arja Havakka (born October 3, 1944 in Lahti , Finland ) is a Finnish pop singer .

life and career

Havakka grew up as an orphan because her mother died when she was seven years old. She then grew up with her mother's sister in Imatra and later in Lappeenranta . She began to appear at the Lappeenrannan kaupunginteatteri (Lappeenranta City Theater) and also to sing, and so got her first stage experience. At the beginning of her career she also sang as a singer in restaurants and dance halls in Finland . From the 1960s on, she performed as a bassist and singer in the band Tommi Lainkarin for over ten years . After that she often appeared individually as a folk song and pop singer. In 1995 Havakka had her biggest hit with Lokki- waltz. As a result she got her own record deal and has since released some of her songs on CD and vinyl . In 2012 Havakka celebrated the anniversary of her 45 year career with a benefit concert in Keminmaa.

Arja Havakka is unmarried and has no children. She lived in Rovaniemi for 40 years, and in Keminmaa since 2007 .
