Arkadiusz Gołaś (born May 10, 1981 in Przasnysz , † September 16, 2005 in Griffen , Carinthia ) was a Polish volleyball player .

Life

Gołaś made his debut in 2001 for the Polish national team. With her he reached ninth place at the 2002 World Cup in Buenos Aires . Two years later, he finished fifth with the team at the Olympic volleyball tournament . In September 2005 he reached the quarterfinals with the team at the European Championships in Rome . Gołaś was most recently under contract as a middle blocker at the top Italian club Lube Banca Macerata .

On the morning of September 16, 2005 Gołaś had a fatal accident on the way to Italy. His wife (married on July 21, 2005 in Częstochowa) lost control of her vehicle on the Austrian southern motorway (A2) and was thrown into a noise barrier. Gołaś suffered fatal head injuries in the accident.
