Arke (mythology)
Arke ( Greek Ἄρκη ) is a deity of Greek mythology . She is the daughter of Thaumas and the twin sister of Iris .
Arke was described as similar in appearance to her sister Iris. It is also said to have been winged and represents the weaker secondary rainbow, while Iris represents the main rainbow. She also took on the role of messenger. However, she was the messenger of the titans in the Titanomachy , her sister, however, stood on the side of the gods. Iris exercised its task even after the victory of the gods, Arke was hindessen of Zeus with the Titans in Tartarus thrown and you were robbed on top of her wings. These later represented a bride present for Thetis on the occasion of her wedding to Peleus . Thetis gave the wings to her son Achilles , who is said to have received his speed and his nickname Podarkes from them .
