Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute
The Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute ( Russian Арктический и антарктический научно-исследовательский институт , ААНИИ , Arktitscheski i antarktitscheski Nauchno-issledowatelski institute , AANII ) is a 1920 founded Research Institute in St. Petersburg , Russia , that the study which polar regions ordered.
During its history, the institute has undertaken more than 1,000 arctic expeditions. It also organized the Soviet Antarctic Expedition from 1956, which u. a. established the well-known Antarctic stations Mirny and Vostok .
