Yevgeny Konstantinovich Fedorov (born March 28 . Jul / 10. April  1910 greg. In Bender , Bessarabia Governorate , Imperial Russia today Moldova ; † 30th December 1981 in Moscow , Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic , Soviet Union ) was a Soviet geophysicist and polar researcher .

Life

Fyodorov graduated from Leningrad State University in 1932 . From 1932 to 1938 he was a research assistant at several polar stations, including the first ice drift station North Pole-1 , which was organized from 1937 to 1938 by the Russian polar explorer Otto Juljewitsch Schmidt , among others . Afterwards he was entrusted with research tasks in the Soviet Weather Service and in the Geophysical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union for decades .

Fyodorow is the author of a large number of scientific works on the topics of geophysics in the Arctic , the water balance of clouds, the external influences on meteorological processes such as air pollution and finally on satellite findings about the layers of the earth's outer atmosphere .

Honourings and prices

The Akademik Fyodorow Canyon and the research ship Akademik Fedorov are named after him.
