The poor welfare and employment institution in Munich was a social building at Gasteig 2 in Munich- Haidhausen, built from 1861 according to a plan by the later Munich city planning officer Arnold Zenetti .

history

The Munich deputation for the poor acquired the former observatory at Munich's Gasteig in 1795 as a poor welfare center. The facility was subsequently enlarged, but in the middle of the 19th century it turned out to be too small. In 1854, Arnold Zenetti drew up an initial plan for a poor welfare institution, which was not carried out. The new building was finally built from 1861 according to Zenetti's new plans. The building was last used as an urban retirement home. In 1974 it was canceled despite an entry in the list of monuments and public protests. The cultural center at Gasteig with a large concert hall was built on the site from 1978 .

investment

The Zenetti building was a two-wing, L-shaped complex that was arranged around a garden courtyard. It also differed from the plan from 1854, which included three parallel wing structures, in the double-placed windows.
