Armin Schild

Armin Schild (born September 21, 1961 in Römershausen ) is a German trade unionist and social democrat . Since June 2015 he has been a managing board member of the N3tzwerk Future of Industry . The N3tzwerk sees itself as a joint institution of business, industrial and employer associations as well as industrial unions , which form the alliance "Future of Industry" with the Federal Ministry of Economics.

Professional background

On September 1, 1978, Armin Schild began his training as a steel mold maker at Zimmermann Nachf. He then attended the technical college in Wetzlar , where he graduated from high school for social affairs. He then studied social pedagogy at the Siegen Comprehensive University. In 1987 he completed his studies with a diploma.

Since summer 2015 he has been head of the office of the “Network Future of Industry” association alongside Markus Schulz. The association is to implement advertising campaigns for German industry and to accompany the change in industry with scientific analyzes. Its purpose is to ensure that science, politics, media, associations and the public exchange views on the future of industry in Germany.

Union career

On October 1st, 1988 he became union secretary at IG Metall Gießen. On October 1, 1992, Armin Schild changed to the collective bargaining department on the IG Metall board. Under Walter Riester he became head of the “wage structuring, working time / performance policy” section of the collective bargaining policy department, and on October 1, 2001 head of the collective bargaining policy department. From January 2005 to June 2015, Armin Schild was the district manager of the IG Metall district of Frankfurt - now renamed the Mitte district - with around 320,000 members in Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Thuringia.

Political commitment

In 1988 Armin Schild joined the SPD in Giessen. In December 2011 he was elected a member of the SPD party executive. In the coalition negotiations in 2013, Armin Schild took part in the “Labor and Social Affairs” group for the SPD. In December 2015, he resigned from the party executive committee.
