Arnaldo Lopes Süssekind (born July 9, 1917 in Rio de Janeiro ; † July 9, 2012 there ) was a Brazilian lawyer and politician.

Career

After Süssekind had published his first book Manual da Justiça do Trabalho in 1941 , President Getúlio Vargas invited him the following year to a commission that was supposed to develop proposals for the consolidation of labor law. He was also the representative of Brazil at the International Labor Organization (ILO).

In Ranieri Mazzilli's cabinet he was Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Labor and Social Security between April 4 and 15, 1964, and then Minister of Labor under Humberto Castelo Branco from April 20, 1964 to December 7, 1965. Between 1965 and 1971 he served as Attorney General in the field of labor law and Minister for the Supreme Labor Court (TST).

The building of the Supreme Labor Court in Rio de Janeiro is named after him.
