Arne Lösekann (born June 26, 1977 in Hamburg-Rissen ) is a German concept and installation artist and architect .

Career

Two years after graduating from high school and after completing community service, Arne Lösekann traveled to South America in 1998 by bike and camera . For six months he crossed Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru. After his return he began to study civil engineering and environmental technology at the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg in October 1998 . In parallel to his studies, the autodidact took part in exhibitions. In 2000 he switched to the architecture course at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and has been working freelance in the field of architecture and 3D modeling since 2004. From September 2005 to February 2006 a study trip to India by bike followed . Equipped with the camera, he went in search of urban spaces and their inhabitants. In May 2006 he realized his diploma thesis with "intermedial" in the form of a performance in Mumbai (India) and Hamburg. In the same year he received his degree as an architect. In 2007 he founded the producer gallery xpon-art gallery together with Anna Goldmund. In 2009 he had his first international solo exhibition "indian reflex" in Jaipur (India). In August 2014 he was accepted into the Professional Association of Visual Artists Hamburg. In 2015 he received the culture award of the Pinneberg district . In 2016, the first museum exhibitions followed, as well as the realization of an "art in architecture" project.

Artistic work

The focus of Arne Lösekann's work is on conceptual works, mainly installations that are thought to be global, but are also always interwoven with his homeland.

Many of his works are about traveling, being on the move and temporarily mooring in the home port. The artist has already crossed countless borders in his life, traveling to South America, India, China, Russia and the USA. He reflects what he has seen and experienced in his work.

In addition to the topic of people in transit and cultural similarities and differences, the works are often based on socially critical content. The anonymity of the big city, human narcissism, clichés and the compulsions that result from them, modern utopias. Often, however, it is also about much more intimate ideas such as self-search when growing up, sibling love or eternal self-doubt. Lösekann's oeuvre shows a breadth of content that reflects his cross-border thinking.

The artist's trademark is the color white that runs like a red thread through his work. In his art, he often robs the things he stages of their color by dipping them in an even, cool white. In doing so, he removes the viewer's eye from standardized viewing habits and takes him away into a surreal world between beauty and cruel reality, which opens up new horizons of thought.
