Arno Makowsky

Arno Makowsky (born April 16, 1961 in Munich ) is a German journalist and was deputy editor-in-chief of the Berliner Tagesspiegel until the end of 2016 . He also works as a lecturer in practical journalism.

Life

Makowsky studied political and communication sciences and graduated from the German School of Journalism in Munich. In 1988 he graduated as a journalist.

After completing his training, he was the presenter of a cinema magazine for the then newly founded TV station Pro Sieben . Between 1991 and 2007 Makowsky worked as a reporter and culture editor for the Süddeutsche Zeitung . He was also head of the Munich local section and head of the "Society and Panorama" department. In 2008 he became editor-in-chief of the Münchner Abendzeitung . After the newspaper was taken over by a Straubing publishing house in 2014, Makowsky left the paper. In 2015 he moved to the Tagesspiegel in Berlin, which he left at the end of 2016 to return to Munich. Since then he has been working as a freelance journalist.
