Arnold Henry Savage Landor
Arnold Henry Savage Landor (born June 2, 1867 in Florence , † December 26, 1924 there ) was a painter, travel writer and researcher. His father was Charles Savage Landor. The poet Walter Savage Landor was his grandfather.
Life
Henry S. Landor traveled as an explorer mainly in the then little-known areas of East and Central Asia. He was never taken seriously as a researcher due to the meager results of his expeditions. The accumulation of dramatic events in his books leaves strong doubts as to the veracity of his adventures. Henry S. Landor was aware of this criticism and tried to refute it in the original editions of his works by means of testimony and official confirmations.
Because of his lively and witty writing style, the German editions of his books were a great success for both publisher and author. Within 25 years, his books achieved ten editions by 1922.
