The Arnold River is a river in Gray District in the region West Coast on the South Island of New Zealand . It is the outflow of Lake Brunner , which it connects to the Gray River . The Arnold River rises near Moana in Lake Brunner and then flows north for 20 km. It flows into the Gray River shortly before the municipality of Brunner , about 15 km from the Tasman Sea . The river is used for white water kayaking and trout fishing.
The Arnold Power Station hydroelectric power station is located near the confluence with the Gray River . It is operated by the electricity producer Trustpower , who also want to build another power station on the river.
