Arnulf Liebing

Arnulf Liebing (born June 3, 1927 in Leipzig ; † November 12, 2009 in Würzburg ) was a German antiquarian , author and programmer .

Life

After military service and imprisonment , he trained as an antiquarian in Leipzig and Berlin from 1946 . Later he became the managing partner of the company "Journalfranz" Arnulf Liebing GmbH (later Liebing GmbH) in Würzburg, a globally active antiquarian bookshop that was founded in Leipzig in 1923 under the name L. Franz & Co. as a specialist antiquarian for magazine replenishment in academic libraries was. In Würzburg , in addition to the magazine antiquariat, the company also looked after the area of ​​"history of science" and published reprints of out-of-print works. From 1985 onwards Liebing developed a DOS -based PC program for antiquarian warehouse management, which was further developed into comprehensive antiquarian software. From 1988 this software was sold under the name PAL-Antiquariatsprogramm. In addition, he dealt with the open source text typesetting system TeX and LaTeX .

At the “Deutsche Buchhändlerschule” of the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels, he taught the topic “Introduction to Antiquarian Studies” (95th - 100th course).
