Arnulf Melzer

Arnulf Melzer (* 1947 in Cham ) is a German biologist specializing in limnology and a former university professor.

Career

Melzer studied at the Technical University of Munich in Weihenstephan and received his doctorate in 1976. From 1986 to 1992 he set up the Limnological Station Iffeldorf at the university, which he managed until 2001. Since 1991 he has been an adjunct professor at the Technical University of Munich. From 1997 to 2003 he was Vice President of the Technical University of Munich and, since 1999, head of the Fundraising Campaign of the Technical University of Munich "Alliance for Knowledge". Since 2004 Arnulf Melzer has been the President's agent for fundraising at the Technical University of Munich. Melzer has been retired since April 2016.

His scientific work focuses on the ecology and physiology of aquatic plants. As part of his habilitation (1989), Arnulf Melzer developed the macrophyte index for determining water quality based on the aquatic plants.

Private

Arnulf Melzer is married and has three children.
