Arpat Avanesjan

Arpat Avanesjan ( Armenian Արպատ Ավանեսյան , Russian Арпат Санджанович Аванесян ; born January 2, 1944 in Tschartar , Martuni Province ) is an Armenian politician of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic .

Life

In 1960 Avanesjan finished his education in the village of Chartar. This was followed by studies at the Department of Radiation Physics and Electronics of the Faculty of Physics at the State University of Yerevan , which he finished in 1966. From 1965 to 1968 he worked at the same institute as a research assistant.

From 1965 to 1968 he worked as a scientific assistant engineer at the Institute for Radiation Physics and Electronics of the National Academy of Sciences . In 1968 he became an assistant at the chair of atomic physics at the State Institute of Architecture and Construction in Yerevan .

After completing his postgraduate studies and submitting his dissertation, Avanesjan obtained the academic degree "Candidate of Technical Sciences" in 1981 and the rank of lecturer in 1983. In 1990 he was appointed director of the polytechnic department in the branch of the State Institute of Architecture and Construction in Stepanakert . In the following year he became rector of this branch and another year later the first rector of Nagorno-Karabach State University (later Arzach State University ).

From July 1994 he was a lecturer in the chair for physics at the Arzach State University and from October 2004 as head of the chair. He has been a full member of the Armenian Academy of Educational and Psychological Sciences since 2005 and has been an honorary doctor of numerous universities.

Avanesjan is the author of over 20 independent publications as well as numerous scientific articles.

Arpat Avanesjan is a co-founder of the “ Free Homeland ” party ( Armenian Ազատ Հայրենիք (Asat Hajreniq) ) and since January 29, 2005 its vice-president. He has been a member of the Presidium since April 19, 2006. In the elections for the fourth National Assembly on June 19, 2005, he was elected a deputy on the party's electoral list. In the following legislative period he was chairman of the National Assembly's standing committee on social issues.

In the elections for the fifth National Assembly on May 23, 2010, he was re-elected as a member of the electoral district 13 (Stepanakert) according to the majority system. On June 10, 2010, during the first session of the National Council, he was elected Chairman of the Standing Committee on Budget, Finance and Economic Matters.

Private matters and honors

Arpat Avanesjan is President of the National Chess Federation of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. He was awarded the Mesrop Mashtots Order, the Mowses Chorenazi Order and other orders and medals.

Avanesjan is married and has three children.
