Arpenik Nalbandian ( Armenian Արփենիկ Նալբանդյան Arpenig Nalbandjan , born December 23, 1916 in Tbilisi ; died May 17, 1964 in Yerevan ) was a Soviet-Armenian artist and painter .

life and work

Arpenik Nalbandian was born in Tbilisi ( Georgia ). After finishing school, she studied painting at the State Art Academy in Tbilisi from 1935 to 1941 . Two years later she was accepted into the Armenian Artists Association. From 1946 she taught at the Institute for Fine and Performing Arts in Tbilisi. In 1948 and 1952 she was elected to the city ​​council of Tbilisi. From 1957 she taught in Moscow .

Nalbandian had devoted himself artistically to easel painting. Her artistic oeuvre includes around 500 paintings, around 45 of which are in the possession of the Armenian National Gallery in Yerevan. Other works of art are in the possession of the Georgian National Gallery, the Gyumri Gallery and in private collections.

Nalbandian was married to Eduard Isabekian, professor of painting and folk painter of Armenia , since 1940 . The marriage resulted in two sons who were also active as painters. Arpenik Nalbandian died in Yerevan on May 17, 1964.

Awards

Nalbandian was honored in 1956 with the "Honored Worker" medal and in 1961 as "People's Painter of Armenia".
