Artaud IV (Forez)
Artaud IV. († 1078/79) was a count of Lyon and Forez . He was a son of Count Gerald II and Adelaide, who was probably a daughter of Count Pons von Gévaudan .
Artaud was excommunicated in 1076 by Pope Gregory VII at the Council of Worms because of his increasing attacks against the Church of Lyon . The last time it appeared in a document was 1078, when it was donated to Cluny Abbey . He calls himself "Count of Forez" ( Artaldus, comes Forensis ), making him the first count of Lyon-Forez mentioned in a document. A deed of donation from his son to Savigny Abbey from 1079 commemorates him in memoria .
Artaud IV had two children with his wife Raimonde:
- William III. († 1097), Count of Lyon-Forez
- Ida-Raimonde (†?)
- 1. ∞ with Count Rainald II of Nevers
- 2. ∞ with Guigues Raimund von Albon ( House Albon )
