Artemio Motta

Artemio Motta (* 1661 in Parma ; † in the 18th century) was an Italian baroque composer .

Life

Artemio Motta, scion of a wealthy family and a Catholic priest, published in 1701 in Modena his ten Concerti a cinque Op. 1, another edition followed in 1702 by the publisher Estienne Roger in Amsterdam . Furthermore, a cantata "a voce sola" Op. Printed in Bologna in 1704 . His concertos use the language of Giuseppe Torelli . Typical for the time is the use of a tenor viola as the 2nd viola part .

These recordings were considered the works of a Sigr. Mouthon (presumably the French lutenist Charles Mouthon ), whose signature was found on the handwritten copy of the works on which the recording was based.
