Splenic artery
The arteria splenica or arteria lienalis (from Latin lien or Greek splen " spleen "; "splenic artery") is an artery in the abdominal cavity and one of the three main branches of the celiac trunk .
The splenic artery divides into several branches:
- Arteria pancreatica dorsalis (back pancreatic artery )
- Arteria pancreatica magna (large pancreatic artery )
- Arteriae gastricae breves (short gastric arteries)
- Arteria gastrica posterior (artery of the gastric posterior wall)
- Arteria gastroomentalis left (or A. gastroepiploica sinistra) (left gastric reticulum artery)
The splenic artery supplies not only the spleen but also the stomach, the pancreas and the large network .
In ruminants , the splenic artery also gives off the two main vessels of the rumen - arteria ruminalis dextra and sinistra .
